Morissette
Jean Morisset, our earliest Morisset ancestor in North America, was first mentioned as being in New France in 1661. He was married to Jeanne Choret and together they had 14 children. He died at the age of 57 years old on the 15th of August 1699 and is buried at Ste.Famille on lle d’Orleans where he lived with his family.
The picture on the right was taken on the Morissette Family Farm during a family reunion held on August 13th, 2005. There were over 250 people who attended from Canada and throughout the USA.

Jean Morisset was born on August 17th, 1641 in St. Gilles de Surgeres, ev. La Rochelle Saintonge (ar.Rochefort, charente-maritime) Eure-et-Loir, Centre, France. He was baptized on the 18th of August 1641 at Notre Dame in Surgeres, Charente-Maritime Poitou-Charentes, France.
Jean signed a marriage contract on Wednesday the 30th of November 1667 with notary Vachon to marry Jeanne Choret. After getting married, they settled in L’Ile d’Orleans.
